Second half surge sends Tallahassee past St. Pete

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (December 12, 2014) – NJCAA No. 14/FCSAA No. 5 Tallahassee Community College won its tenth game of the season on Friday evening, knocking off host St. Petersburg College 79-62 on day one of the SPC Lady Titan Tourney.

Tallahassee last played on December 3 when it fell to the College of Central Florida, 65-55. The time off paid dividends, especially on the offensive end for the Eagles, who enjoyed their highest scoring output since an 87-37 win over Southern Union (Ala.) State Community College on November 25.

On Friday, Tallahassee led 33-32 at the half then took control over the final 20 minutes, outscoring the Titans 46-30.

Cat Wells scored 17 of her game-high 20 points in the second half to lead Tallahassee. Aryn Tarver added 15 points, and Wendion Bibbins and Jeremica Edwards had 10 each as the Eagles had four players reach double-figures in scoring.

Tallahassee (10-2) returns to the court at noon Saturday to play Miami Dade College on day two of the event.
