Eagles stay hot against NWF State

NICEVILLE, Fla. (March 11, 2021) – Tallahassee Community College's men's basketball team won its fifth straight game on Thursday, defeating Northwest Florida State College, 92-82.

The win improved the Eagles to 15-2 overall and increased their lead to a full game over idle Chipola College in the Panhandle Conference standings at 9-2.

Tallahassee jumped out to a 20-7 lead midway through the first half and eventually led by as many as 16 (31-15). The Raiders gradually clawed their way back into the game a three-pointer just before the buzzer cut the Eagles' lead to 44-38 at the intermission.

A layup by El Ellis and a three-pointer from Shawn Walker pushed the lead back to double-figures, 49-38, by the 17:11 mark of the second half, and the Eagles lead never dipped below eight the rest of the way.

Walker led five players in double-figures with 16. DeAngelo Ware and Josh Rubio added 14 each. Ellis had 12 and Amir Gholizadeh scored 11.

Etan Collins had nine and Chris Hampton, eight, as the Eagle reserves outscored their Raider counterparts, 42-25.

Tallahassee will close round three of league play when it hosts Pensacola State College at 5 p.m. Saturday.
