Eagles Roll Past Hillsborough to Open Florida College Shootout 77–61
TALLAHASSEE Fla. - De The No. 20 Tallahassee State College Eagles opened the Florida College Men's Basketball Shootout in dominant fashion on Saturday night cruising to a 77–61 victory over Hillsborough Community College.
Tallahassee controlled the game from the opening tip imposing its pace on both ends of the floor and never allowing Hillsborough to gain traction. The Eagles shot 45.6% from the field knocked down nine three pointers and held a double digit lead for the majority of the night.
Rodmik Allen set the tone for the Eagles with a strong all around performance. The freshman guard posted 16 points 7 assists and 4 rebounds on 6 of 9 shooting orchestrating the offense with poise and pace.
Forward Cedric Taylor delivered big minutes in the frontcourt adding 13 points 5 rebounds and 2 blocks while shooting an efficient 6 of 9 from the floor. His energy around the rim and timely defense helped TSC maintain control in the paint.
The Eagles also got a standout effort from Cinque Lemon who anchored the interior with a 12 rebound performance four of them offensive while adding 8 points and a steal. Lemon's presence on the glass fueled numerous second chance opportunities and limited Hillsborough to one and done possessions.
Tallahassee showcased depth as well with nine different players scoring. Elijah Guillory and Shane Cherry each contributed 9 points while Amare Robinson and Cole Crissman added 8 and 9 points respectively off the bench.
Defensively the Eagles were suffocating, forcing Hillsborough into difficult looks holding them to 61 points and dominating the rebounding battle 37 to 27.
With the win Tallahassee State ranked No. 20 nationally contiune to look to climb up the rankings as we head towards conference play.
The Eagles return to action Sunday for their second game of the Shootout wher they will play Indian River State College at 2pm.
