Tallahassee, Fla. – JANUARY 17, 2026 The 10th-ranked Tallahassee State men's basketball team delivered a statement win Saturday night, knocking off No. 4 Gulf Coast State, 86–76, to improve to 19–2 on the season and 2–1 in conference play.
True to form, the Eagles once again showed their resilience. After trailing at halftime, TSC stormed back in the second half, continuing a season-long trend of strong comeback victories. The win also served as a bounce-back performance following Wednesday's tough loss to Pensacola, which snapped the Eagles' 10-game winning streak.
Shane Cherry led all scorers with a game-high 22 points, adding four assists and two rebounds. Cherry was aggressive attacking the rim, going 8-for-10 from the free-throw line to seal the victory late.
Elijah Guillory provided a huge spark from beyond the arc, knocking down four of his six three-point attempts and finishing with 17 points. Guillory's shooting stretched the defense and fueled multiple scoring runs for the Eagles.
Orion Wilson dominated the paint, recording a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Wilson was relentless on the glass, grabbing four offensive boards and protecting the rim with four blocks.
Additional contributions came from Ja'Kwon Moore, who was perfect from the field (4-for-4) for nine points, and Cedric Taylor, who added seven points and five rebounds off the bench. Amare Robinson chipped in seven points in 14 minutes of action.
As a team, the Eagles shot 50 percent from the field and outrebounded Gulf Coast State 31–21, using second-chance points and defensive stops to control the second half.
With the victory, TSC now owns two top-five conference wins this season, having previously defeated No. 5 Northwest Florida.
The Eagles return to action on the road at Chipola College on Wednesday, January 21, with tipoff set for 8:30 p.m. ET.
