TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — JANUARY 31, 2026 -  The No. 12-ranked Tallahassee State men's basketball team continued its hot stretch in Panhandle Conference play on Saturday, defeating No. 18 Pensacola State 71–65 to complete a 2–0 week in league action.

The win comes on the heels of Wednesday's conference victory over Northwest Florida and keeps the Eagles in first place in the Panhandle Conference with a 4–2 league record.

Tallahassee State used balanced scoring, efficient shooting, and timely defensive stops to fend off the ranked Pirates. The Eagles shot 47.2 percent from the field, 36.4 percent from three-point range, and 81.3 percent at the free-throw line, capitalizing at the stripe late to seal the win.

Shane Cherry led all scorers with 17 points, knocking down three three-pointers to pace the Eagles offensively. Orion Wilson provided a major spark off the bench, scoring 15 points on 4-of-5 shooting and going 7-of-8 from the free-throw line, while also adding five rebounds and a steal.

Rodmik Allen filled up the stat sheet with nine points, six assists, and three steals, helping control the tempo throughout the game. Elijah Guillory and Ja'Kwon Moore each added nine and seven points, respectively, while combining for eight rebounds.

The Eagles also won the rebounding battle 30–22 and forced Pensacola State into 10 turnovers, using defensive pressure and poise down the stretch to protect the lead.

Tallahassee State will look to continue its momentum on Wednesday, when the Eagles travel to face Gulf Coast State College in Panama City, Florida. Tipoff is set for 8:30 p.m. ET in another key Panhandle Conference matchup.
