TCC Softball gains split at Darton State

ALBANY, Ga. (March 9, 2013) - Freshman pitcher Ashley Dobson picked up the win in game two to help Tallahassee Community College to a 7-2 victory over NJCAA No. 10 Darton (Ga.) State College and a split of the teams' Saturday afternoon doubleheader in Albany, Ga.

Tallahassee is now 13-11 heading into the back end of the teams' home-and-home series, which continues with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday at the TCC Softball Complex.

Darton State picked up a 6-2 victory in Saturday's first game.

In the nightcap, Dobson (8-4) struck out six en route to her eighth victory of the season.

Brianna Murillo went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI while Tammy McMillan drove in three runs and was 1-for-4.

In Saturday's opener, Tallahassee scored a run in the top of the fifth to break a 1-all tie, but Darton State erased the Eagles' lead with five runs - all unearned - in the bottom half and won the game, 6-2.

Krysta Hoani was the tough-luck loser in the circle for Tallahassee, as she went the distance and allowed only five hits. Hoani was charged with all six of the Cavaliers' runs - but only one was earned.

Kelly Engwall went 3-for-4 to lead the Eagles offensively. Krista Garcia was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Ashley Heath-Smith was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
