Eagles open fall ball with dominant win over Reid State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Tallahassee State College softball team took down Reid State Technical College in their first fall ball game of the season, 8-4. It was the first time either college had faced the other, given this being Reid State softball's inaugural season.

The Lions saw the board first, plating three runs across the first two innings. Starting pitcher Asia Peart saw some trouble in the circle, giving up two hits and four walks that Reid State took advantage of.

The Eagles got it going in the second inning when Tori Richardson drove in Rosalie Dufresne for TSC's first run of the afternoon. They reclaimed the lead in the fourth inning, pushing three more runs across in a six hit offensive surge.

Lauren Rifenburg extended the Eagles' one-run lead to two with an RBI single in the sixth. Faulk sent Dufresne home again in the seventh, and Dufresne herself drove home two more runs in the seventh and ninth to solidify the dominant Eagle win.

The mound saw five different Eagle pitchers through 10 innings of play. Sophomore Laci Prescott entered for Peart in the third, allowing no runs and striking out four through three innings. Alyssa Alonso took the circle in the sixth, allowing just one hit and punching out on herself through three. Amelia Poucher and Addie Wolf closed out the contest, throwing an inning each.

Tallahassee State batting showed promise and the Eagles weren't afraid to take risks on the basepath. Dufresne went a perfect 5-5, singling four times and managing a double in the ninth inning. She accounted for four runs after stealing three bases. Freshman Lauren Rifenburg went 2-4, singling twice and stealing four bags.

The Eagles will be back at the TSC Softball Complex on Friday, October 11 at 3pm ET to play Florida A&M.
