Bio

Emily Miller is in her fourth year as an assistant coach at Tallahassee Community College. Since joining the Eagles' staff as a volunteer assistant in the fall of 2011, Miller has worked primarily with the team's pitchers and catchers. As the team's lead assistant in 2015, she will also work with the Eagle infield.

A Georgia native, Miller prepped at Wheeler High School in Marietta, Ga., where she was a four-year starter and a three-time all-county selection. In 2005, she headed to the University of Massachusetts, where she was recruited to catch for the Minutewomen.

After being declared medically disqualified in 2007, Miller moved from behind the plate to her new role as a student assistant for NFCA Hall of Fame coach Elaine Sortino. During her two seasons on the UMass staff,  Miller provided hitting instruction and also worked closely with Sortino, training the team's pitchers and catchers.

As a player, Miller was named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioners Honor Roll six times and was also recognized as an NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete her freshman year. As a coach in 2009, she was part of the NFCA’s Northeast Coaching Staff of the Year alongside Sortino and assistants Jessica Merchant and Kristi Stefanoni.

Upon graduating from UMass in 2010, Miller returned to her home state and became the inaugural head softball coach at Mount Vernon Presbyterian School in Atlanta, Ga. In her first season, the Lady Mustangs placed fourth at the regional tournament, despite beginning the season with only four girls who had experience playing softball.

After one season at Mount Vernon, Miller, in 2011, relocated to Tallahassee and enrolled at Florida State University, where she earned a master's degree in sport psychology.

Miller and her husband, Bruce, both avid Atlanta Braves fans, were married in August 2014 at Atlanta's Turner Field.
