NICEVILLE, Fla. (December 7, 2019) – Tallahassee Community College outscored Hillsborough Community College 22-9 in the fourth quarter and defeated the Hawks, 73-61, on day two action at the Florida College's Women's Basketball Shootout.
The win snapped a two-game losing streak for the Eagles, who improved to 7-4 on the season.
Keyed by 57.1 percent (8-of-14) shooting, Tallahassee enjoyed a 22-14 scoring advantage in the second quarter and enjoyed a 42-29 lead at the half. Hillsborough flipped the script and erased the Eagles' lead in the third quarter.
The Hawks hit 8-of-14 shots, including 4-of-8 from three, in the third. Meanwhile, Tallahassee went just 4-of-19 and trailed 52-51 entering the final ten minutes.
Polina Nikulochkina led all players with 24 points for Tallahassee. Sedayjha Payne added a double-double, 15 points and 12 rebounds, and Rita James scored 11.
