NWF State women pull away against TCC

NICEVILLE, Fla. (March 11, 2021) – Northwest Florida State College outscored Tallahassee Community College in the second half, 34-17, en route to a 66-36 win in women's basketball action on Thursday evening. 

Rita James scored 12 points to lead the Eagles. She was followed by Kyra Smith with six. Briana Chambers and Tariah Bryant had five points each. 

Trailing 15-5, the Eagles finished the first quarter on a modest 4-1 run to pull within 16-9 through ten minutes. Northwest Florida State extended its lead to 32-19 at the half. 

The Eagles remained within striking distance well into the third quarter. A pair of free throws by Polina Nikulochkina pulled Tallahassee with ten, 39-29, at the 4:32 mark. 

Northwest Florida State, however, closed the quarter on a 12-2 run to double its lead (51-31) heading to the fourth. 

Tallahassee (2-11, 1-10 Panhandle Conference) will close the third round of league play by hosting Pensacola State College at 3 p.m. Saturday.
