Costello Claims Career-Best Top-10 Finish as Eagles Shine at Gulf Coast Invite

PANAMA CITY, Fla. - October 3, 2025 The Tallahassee State women's cross country team delivered an outstanding performance at the Gulf Coast Invite this evening, showcasing significant growth and competitive excellence at Majette Park.

In the 5K race, hosted by Gulf Coast State College, the Eagles finished 5th out of 7 teams while posting several impressive individual performances that signal a team hitting its stride as the season enters its final stretch.

The story of the evening belonged to Sarah Costello, who achieved a career milestone with an 8th place finish and a time of 22:33.8. This was her first top-10 finish in her college career. Costello's upward trajectory throughout the season has been remarkable, and her performance today confirms what her coach and teammates have witnessed in practice. She's building towards a strong finish to her Sophomore season.

"Sarah has shown incredible development this year," said Coach Guinan. "Each race, she's gotten stronger and more confident. This top-10 finish is well-deserved and I believe we'll see even more from her as we head into the final races of the season."

But Costello wasn't alone in delivering strong performances. Sada Bostick ran with determination to finish 20th overall in 24:44.4, followed immediately by Orianna Madden in 21st place with a time of 24:46.4. The tight finish between Bostick and Madden shows the competitive spirit and team cohesion that has defined this squad all season.

Kaylee Sanders continued to show her grit, finishing 30th with a time of 26:07.0, while Abbie Mickelson rounded out the scoring in 33rd place, crossing the line in 27:07.5. Each runner displayed the heart and determination to help the Eagles claim that 5th position.

"I'm incredibly proud of every single runner who competed tonight," added Coach Guinan. "From Sarah's breakthrough performance to the consistent effort from Sada, Orianna, Kaylee, and Abbie, this was a total team effort. The growth we've seen across the board this season is exactly what we've been working toward, and the best is yet to come."

The Eagles are strengthening as they get to the gritty part of the season. Their next race is October 10th at the FGC Invite in Lake City, Florida.
