Eagles Upset No. 4 Chipola in Overtime Thriller, 76-74

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - FEBRUARY 11, 2026 – In front of a fired-up home crowd, Tallahassee State College Women's Basketball delivered a massive win, knocking off No. 4 nationally ranked Chipola College, 76-74, in overtime.

With the game tied in the final seconds of the extra period, Madeline Penney calmly stepped to the free throw line and sank two clutch free throws with just 0.4 seconds remaining to seal the victory for the Eagles.

The win marks Tallahassee's first victory over Chipola in the last 17 meetings dating back to 2020.

Tallahassee (76 points) was led by Kyana Poitier, who dominated inside with 21 points and 16 rebounds for a double-double performance. Ashantay Noble added 18 points and six assists, while Penney finished with 15 points, six rebounds, three assists, and three steals — none bigger than her final two free throws.

Alahni Lovett provided a huge spark off the bench, pouring in 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting, including 2-of-3 from beyond the arc.

As a team, the Eagles shot 40 percent from the field and knocked down eight three-pointers. Tallahassee controlled the glass with a 41-38 rebounding advantage and forced 19 Chipola turnovers, turning defensive pressure into key opportunities throughout the night.

Chipola was led by Taylor Rietveld's 24 points and Serena Heeren's 17-point, 14-rebound effort, but the Eagles' composure late proved to be the difference.

In a game that featured multiple momentum swings and high-level play on both ends, Tallahassee showed resilience, poise, and toughness to secure a signature Panhandle Conference victory.

The Eagles return to action Saturday at 2 p.m. as they host Northwest Florida State College.
